On Saturday, September 12, from 11 a.m. to 5 p.m., CT Folk’s 10th annual Folk Fest and Green Expo will celebrate “Ten Years of Community Sustainability.” It’s the 10th year of the Green Expo but the 2nd decade of the Folk Festival. If you love great music and the environment then consider joining the CT Folk volunteer crew by emailing email@example.com today!
This free, full-day celebration—located in New Haven’s beautiful Edgerton Park—includes a music festival featuring acts from across the region, and a Green Expo that features delicious food, unique eco-friendly vendors, sustainable living information, and fun experiences for kids in the Green Kids Activities area.
The Festival/Expo is dedicated to creating an unforgettable festival experience with an emphasis on sustainability and earth-friendly practices, including a zero waste plan and water-fill stations.
The CT Green Expo’s seventy-five exhibitors will offer ideas and products for sustainable lifestyles, along with free workshops, activities, and demonstrations. Home improvement, biking, co-housing, holistic health, and handcrafts are just some of the “everyday green” resources that will be featured.
The afternoon features a Contra Dance called by Bill Fischer, with music with dance band The Fiddleheads. Experienced dancers and newcomers alike are invited to join the open-air contra dance.
For the young ones, the Green Kids’ Village offers hands-on activities and entertainment to engage the next generation of environmentalists. Kids can take a workshop on solar cells, make friends with composting worms and helpful bugs, boost their conservation skills with EE Smarts, and be amazed by the magic show of “eco-wizard” Cyril the Sorcerer. CT Kids and Family and New Haven Green Fund sponsor.
City Atlas:New Haven, a new exhibitor, will partner with CT Folk as attendees explore the past, present, and future impact of the CT Green Expo on their lives and that of their communities.
In the evening, live music featuring Della Mae, John Gorka, and many others will continue until 10 p.m. on our outdoor stage under the stars (visit www.ctfolk.com for the full line up). You’ll hear a lively line-up of the best of Connecticut musicians and nationally-known performers. Unfold your chair, spread your blanket, and sample the scrumptious foods from the many local vendors including vegetarian and vegan options.
The entire event is one-hundred-percent free. This is a day where your local community comes together to show what they have to offer and you won’t be disappointed! The CT Folk Festival & Green Expo is now in its second decade and is run under the auspices of CT Folk, a nonprofit organization dedicated to traditional and contemporary roots music and to caring for the earth.
