Beginning 8:00 A.M. October 16 and going until 8:00 P.M. October 17, Connecticut for the Environment and its program Save the Sound will be participating in the Great Give 2012!
Hosted by the Community Foundation of Greater New Haven, the Great Give is a 36-hour giving campaign benefiting local non-profit organizations. In addition to the money raised through donations, non-profits profiled on givegreater.org will be eligible to receive grant prizes in the amounts of $20,000, $10,000, $5,000 and $1,000. Three first place prizes of $20,000 will go to the non-profits that secure the greatest number of individual donors, greatest number of new donors, and the most money raised.
Additionally, the Valley Community Foundation is sponsoring a special Valley Prize during the Great Give. Donors who live or work in Ansonia, Derby, Oxford, Seymour or Shelton will have their donations of up to $100 per donor, per eligible non-profit matched by VCF until its $20,000 match pool is exhausted.
There are more than 200 non-profits participating in this year’s Great Give and the competition is tough!
Can you help us raise money?
The minimum gift for the Great Give is $25. Each dollar that is donated will go directly to support our programs that protect our last great island and coastal places, advocate for energy efficiency improvements, and restore our coastal habitats, among many other things. Please mark your calendars for 8:00 A.M. on October 16, 2012 (next Tuesday) or sign up for a reminder on the Great Give’s website and please spread the word to your friends and family! On the day of, log on to the Great Give’s site, search for Connecticut Fund for the Environment or Save the Sound and you will be able to donate there.
